Paintball hoppers - A guide to the different types
Gravity Fed Hoppers
These are the most basic of paintball hopper. They rely on gravity to load the paintballs into the breach of your paintball gun. As a rule, a gravity fed paintball hopper will feed up to around 6 balls per second. There is an exception to this in the Proto Primo hopper which is a gravity fed hopper but will feed at up to 12 balls per second
These are similar to gravity fed hoppers but they have a wheel or paddle fitted into the body of the hopper which spins and agitates the paintballs to stop them from jamming. Although these hoppers are still gravity fed, the addition of the paddle does make them feed paintballs faster
Force Feed Hoppers
These are electronic hoppers, but the paintballs are forced into the breach of the gun. This means that very high rates of fire can be achieved. Sometimes up to 50 paintballs per second.
